This article assesses the value of the capabilities developed through the use of Information Technology (IT) in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), by analysing whether these capabilities are a determinant of the intra-industry differential in their performance. Our work makes two principal contributions to the understanding of the value of IT. Differentiates internal IT from external IT capabilities.

The CAGE around cyberspace? How digital innovations internationalize in a virtual world – ScienceDirect

This paper analyzes some salient factors affecting the internationalization speed of digital innovations by tracking international penetrations of 127 apps at Apple’s app store. Although apps are globally available via online platforms, their international penetration is still subject to cultural, administrative, geographic, and economic (CAGE) distances that act as user adoption barriers to impede app internationalization.
